Frequently Asked Questions
01. WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?
I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) which is the highest level of certification available to lactation professionals. I’m also a Lactation Counsellor (LC – CBI).
To become an IBCLC, I’ve taken over 400 hours of lactation specific education at Mohawk College & Childbirth International. I’ve also finishing up my 500 hours of clinical practice in different settings, such as at the Labour & Delivery ward and Pediatric Outpatient clinic of the Montfort Hospital, the South-East Ottawa Community Health Clinic and in Private Practice.
You can verify my credentials on the IBLCE Public Registry by searching for me by name, or license number L-309986
02. I JUST HAVE A QUICK BREASTFEEDING QUESTION/ISSUE. COULD I JUST TEXT OR EMAIL MY QUESTION?
Unfortunately, no. I can’t give you individualized breastfeeding advice or care without a signed consent form and your health history. That said, once you are formally one of my clients, you do have access to digital support for a time following our visit.
03. ARE YOU FULLY VACCINATED?
Yes I’m up to date on all my routine immunizations. I’ve also received both doses of my COVID-19 vaccine, as well as my booster and bivalent dose. I also get the Flu shot every year – my latest shot was in Octoebr of 2022.
04. CAN YOU HELP ME IF I'M ALSO PUMPING/BOTTLE FEEDING FORMULA?
Absolutely! Any breastmilk is breastfeeding. It doesn’t matter if it’s 1 Tablespoon or full feeds everyday. As for mixed feedings and formula feedings, Lactation professionals are also infant feeding specialists – I’m happy to help, guilt-free.
